The Albanese Government is investing more than $4.9 million to deliver two road safety projects across Nicholls as part of the latest funding round of the Safer Local Roads Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).
The SLRIP funds projects that create safer and more productive roads across Australia.
The successful projects are part of nearly $140 million in additional Commonwealth funding set to deliver a total of 46 road safety projects across the country.
Projects will improve key transport routes, strengthen local infrastructure and provide safer journeys for all road users.
In Strathbogie Shire, the Albanese Government is investing $4 million to design and deliver the renewal of Kirwans Bridge, supporting its reopening across the Goulburn River.
The project will determine the upgrades needed for the bridge before delivering works to strengthen and restore it, improve safety barriers, drainage and the adjoining road, while incorporating heritage requirements.
In Greater Shepparton, the Albanese Government is investing $957,475 to deliver approximately 1.8 kilometres of new cycling pathway connecting Victoria Park and Shepparton Rail Station.
The new pathway will also link to the on-road cycling lane to Greater Shepparton Secondary College, providing better cycling connections between key destinations across Shepparton.
The Albanese Government has strengthened Commonwealth Road programs, including doubling the Roads to Recovery Program to $1 billion per year, increasing the Black Spot Program from $110 million to $150 million per year, as well as providing $200 million per year for the SLRIP.
